Description
This Hardy Woven Hand Forged Steel Decorative Edging Panel will make a real statement in your garden. They have the charm of traditional hazel hurdles with the advantage of not rotting after a couple of winters in the mud.
We offer them either at 30cm (1 foot) or 60cm (24 inch) in height, and either 80cm or 120cm in length. Since they are bespoke hand forged items there is always a slight variability in the dimensions (mostly on the length).
Constructed from 30mm solid steel slats that are 3mm thick, they have decorative hand forged scrolls at both ends of each slat. The slats are welded to 10mm uprights to be inserted into the ground and each side securely links to the next, using the metal hoops provided to create a rigid join to an adjoining panel. Over time the steel will take on a decorative rust layer.
This Hardy Woven Hand Forged Steel Decorative Edging Panel is hand made in the UK; there is a lead time of several weeks on each order.
These Decorative Edging Panels were introduced at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show 2026.

Assembly
This is really easy and should only take 5 minutes per panel assuming the ground isn’t too hard or stony..
Step 1:Decide where the Decorative Edging will be sited, The ground should be relatively flat.
Step 2 Important step. Choose your first panel and make sure that for the top most slat hand forged scroll coils around so that the end of the scroll is on what will be the rear face of the Decorative Edging. For each panel you install make sure you follow the same rule.

Step 3 Simply push the three prongs of the first panel into the ground keeping the side of the panel vertical (in moist ground this is really quite easy).. You can use a rubber mallet or a 30 to 50cm 10mm drill bit attached to a cordless screwdriver to drill a pilot hole as necessary (these items are not provided).
Step 4 Insert the next panel next to the first – the two end rods should be immediately adjacent to each other.
Step 5. Insert the retaining steel hoops vertically down between the slats of each end rod. The end of the hoop should go a short distance into the ground and the top of the hoop will tuck in behind the top forged scrolls so this is on the rear face side of the Decorative Edging and it will sit slightly below the top of the Decorative Edging.
